It’s not hard to figure out how much water you really need. Start by dividing your body weight in pounds by 2.2 to convert to weight in kilograms. Divide by 30. The result is the amount of water in liters you need each day. If you want to know the amount in fluid ounces, multiply the number of liters of water by 3f. Suppose you weigh 150 pounds. Here’s what the calculation looks like:

  • Dividing 150 pounds by 2.2 converts to a weight of 68 kg.
  • Divide 68 by 30 gives you 2.27 liters of water.
  • Multiply 2.27 liters by 34 to convert to 77 fluid ounces.

If you exercise regularly, you need more water to replace what you sweat away. Add 350 ml or 12 oz of water for every 30 minutes of exercise. Don’t neglect to replace electrolytes like sodium and potassium to keep your metabolism in balance. Increase your water intake in hot weather.
